Why you’re still hungry after eating (and how to reset your hunger signals after 40)

When was the first time you went on a diet?

When was the first time you decided you needed to stop eating to “drop a few pounds”?

How old were you?

If the research is right, it was around 13–14.
In fact, studies show dieting behaviours often begin just before or around age 14 for many girls.

But for many of us… it started even earlier.

Some research shows girls as young as 9–10 are already thinking about dieting or trying to change their bodies.

Years of Overriding

By the time we hit 40 and 50, we’ve spent years overriding our body.

Controlling food.
Ignoring hunger.
Trying to out-exercise it.

And I’m no different.

I’ve tried it all—vegan, low carb, paleo, keto…
You name it.

Ugh… I’ve tried it.

The Truth No One Told You

Your body isn’t confused. It’s wise.

It knows when it’s hungry.

We’ve just lost touch with how to hear it.

And I want us to come back to that.

To honour it. To ask what it needs… and actually hear the answer.

The Loop So Many Women Are Stuck In

Because right now?

So many women are stuck in this loop.

Ugh, I know this is hard if you’re like me because… You love food… and you overthink food at the same time.

What to eat. When to eat. If it’s “right.” If it’s enough. If it’s too much.

It’s frustrating. It’s exhausting.

And there’s that constant, gnawing hunger that never quite settles.

This Isn’t About Discipline

That’s not a discipline problem.

That’s a signal problem.

We’ve overridden those signals for years… so of course they feel off.

And there’s another layer most people don’t realize.

When we get stuck in overthinking, it becomes a loop.

Psychology calls this rumination. A pattern of repetitive thinking that keeps us stuck in the same thoughts without resolution.

And the more we stay in that loop…the harder it is to actually hear our body

Why Spring Is the Perfect Time to Reset

Here’s the part I love!

Spring is the perfect time to reset this.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, spring is about renewal.

It’s your liver’s season.

And your liver is the only organ in your body that can regenerate.

So when your liver is supported… things start to feel clearer.

Less overthinking (thank gawd) More connection (hello patio season) More ease with food (big exhale)

The Part No One Says Out Loud

You can eat the “perfect” meal… and still feel unsatisfied 20 minutes later.

So you go back for something sweet. Or salty. Or just… more.

And then?

You question yourself.

“Why am I still hungry?” “Did I not eat enough protein?” “Should I have waited longer?”

And just like that…

You’re back in your head.

This Is Your Starting Point

If you’re sitting there wondering…

Why am I always hungry? Why doesn’t food feel satisfying? Why do I feel like I need snacks just to get through the day?
